The Process
Complimentary Consultation
Your custom-made, eco-conscious gown begins with a complimentary consultation meeting with Carla or Jocelyn. Contact us, and we will set up a time to discuss your personal dress design. In addition to reviewing different style options, we will discuss different customizations you may desire for the silhouette, pattern, skirt length and shape, sleeves and more. We can discuss any second-hand or vintage items that you may want incorporated into your dress, as well as the pricing and payment for gowns. If appropriate, we will also take your measurements at this time.
As noted above, this meeting is complimentary, and the bride is under no obligation to purchase a gown at this time.
Design Consultation
After the initial consultation, your second appointment confirms purchase of the gown and focuses on finalizing the design. We will discuss and finalize all the elements of your gown, including the silhouette and all style elements including color, embroidery, silk screening and beading. If not taken already, we will take measurements at this time.
First Fitting
The first fitting of your gown is done in plain cotton to confirm the shape and fit of your dress and provide an accurate pattern with which to make your gown. Minor alterations may be made and additional style elements will be discussed as needed.
Additional fittings
After the first fitting, we will see you for three to six more fittings as needed during the construction and customization of the dress. The number and length of these fittings will vary according to your unique needs and your gown, and Fermata Designs will work with you to schedule these at convenient times and places as needed. These fittings will ensure that the gown is a perfect fit, and that all style elements and customizations are to your liking.
Final Fitting
During the final fitting, Fermata Designs will bring the finished gown, and you will try the dress on to make sure it is perfect for you, and no further alterations are needed. If everything is of utmost satisfaction, you will take home the dress at this time.
